Peter Jacobs plays the piano music of Hubert Parry. Widely acknowledged to be Parry’s pianistic masterpiece, Shulbrede Tunes, through 10 miniatures, depicts the atmosphere of his daughter’s house, Shulbrede Priory, and the characters who are associated with it. Peter Jacobs is the only pianist to have recorded the work and it is presented here with the substantial Theme and Nineteen Variations and Parry’s suite, Hands Across the Centuries which reflects the composer’s interest in music of the Baroque period.
